Last Year was an amazing year! I worked hard and released a slew of projects– Be sure to hit the recently updated Discography tab above to stream and download new material!
Yall can still hit me on twitter @dwillbeats, but I’m really starting to find twitter to be more of hassle than anything- some cats are built for twitter and im not… So this year im going to step away from it a bit. Began to find myself communicating like this:
Rather than at face value– I completely understand it’s the time we live in but…Dang. So like I said I will be updating on twitter but imma get back to the music and give y’all more heartfelt updates here.
Lots of new sounds from this year. Not gonna list them cause I don’t wanna jinx myself hahahaha- But the first album from me this year will be chapter 2 of my beat emporium. I’m so excited– Check back later in the week for the first video. For y’all that have no idea what the CBE is all about, visit the tab above for more details.
Beat Emporium Rundown
August 11, 2010
I really didnt think tha the cbe was gonna be such a success. I honestly thought that most of the videos would be over looked, but I am so thankful cause y’all have been supportin them like crazy. It’s been a dream of mine ever since I heard donuts to compile an instrumental album. Never really knew how to go about doing it though.
To me donuts was the perfect instrumental lp…. It’s just felt so right. Although it wasn’t a themed by a certain sound the feel of the record made it an lp. I love the madlib beat konducta series but sometimes them joints are so random– all the songs just get jumbled up and by the end of the record I don’t feel like nothin!
I want to cross the two styles because to be honest those two cats (dilla & madlib) taught me!
I got plenty of beats that I wanna use for the CBE but really need to figure out how imma present it to y’all. I kinda want the joint to feel like un finished, un released record… Almost as if the listener has been granted access to my hard drive. Ive been nit picking this project– but when its ready to go ill be very proud of the final product.
SUPER SHOUTS to all yall that downloaded the alive and well w/ stik figa– shit was jammin right?!
Next: Beat Emporium
Then: “Labor” w/ one be lo
Then : what ever god wants me to do next
Peace

It’s interesting how people always wanna start life out new on January 1. Life doesn’t start over people! Be thankful for ur daily bread. At times I feel that wants override faith and needs. Nobody lives forever– and nothing is promised. So enough with the “2010 is mine” and the “maaaan I’m on it in 2010″–Just live & pray for the moment… Cause your only worth what you have used for the day.
I love y’all and will continue to contribute and pump soul into my art untill I can’t–
Dont get it twisted though! I am very thankful for all my blessings this year. Stik figa and i created an amazing album with “hello goodbye” and got some eyes looking in on our city. Also the homie Outasight got a major label deal with Warner Bros. So the chips are lining up and falling in place.

OutaWill Sessions (freEP)
December 7, 2009
1st of i wanna say what an honor…2dopeboyz have been holding me down and pushing me for about 2 years now. On some real shit– this site has been career changing. Knowing that thousands of people will click and preview/download my art is part of my motivation. Often i get emails from fans saying they found me on 2db– and that shit makes me get into the lab asap. when i first was featured on the site it was amazing cause i was “2dope to sleep on” and the track that got posted was “the seen”– it got a couple hundred downloads, then i decided to hit um with my “on & on ” badu remix and that junt did 30k and counting!– after that i was like YO people are checking for me and i dont wanna let um down. And thats basically my mindset while in the studio– make dope shit cause dope people deserve it.
No matter where my career lands me i will owe alot to shake & meka over at 2dopeboyz.com
The latest is an EP, Meka did for me and my man Outasight– its called the OutaWill sessions– its just a collection of past joints that i produced for OU. A couple of the joints date back as much as 2 years– hope yall enjoy!

Hello Goodbye break down
December 2, 2009
I am very happy that people are responding to HG, cause we didnt really expect for heads to be checkin for it! From a production standpoint i just wanted the record to show my range as a producer, and also be open enough for stik to shine through. Producing full lengths albums are very tough because you dont wanna have the album sounding like mush to where every joint is exactly like track # 1 on the disc.
While working on the joint i listend to lots of madlib and the college drop out lp… not for inspiration for the album– but cause thats the type of mood i was in for about 4 months. Had to keep it soulful and im glad i finally click up with the homie stik– back in 2005 we met and chopped about doing a project but never did.
Im back to work in the lab on tracks– that will hopefully land on One be lo album, and Outasights projects ++ Battery Effect 2 and a follow up to hello goodbye
For my free ringtone (soultone #004) im going to make it a instrumetal from hello goodbye– let me know which one yall want!! And ill make it happen
thank you all so much

Going Back @ Cali
October 8, 2009
LA is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been. Lots to see and seems to be plenty of opportunity for a young artist. My homie Cali Nate and I got an awesome 20 min slot to Open for pharcyde in front of a packed out key club. During sound check I had a chance to chop with fat lip and he shared dropped some gems on me. Sound check was dope and the sound at key club was outta this world. So much bang to where I knew as soon as my set started the crowd was gonna be swept away by the low end.
Our set was flawless! They gave us 20 min so nAte and I decided to split it down the middle. They came, they saw, we shut it down. So dope! …. LA I’ll see you soon! Very soon!
“Okay”player review
August 13, 2009
Making music is the best gift that god could have ever given to me! I create art to inspire and motivate people to do the same with their talents, so normally i don’t read full reviews of my work. Jane hooked it up with okayplayer so Battery Effect could be a feature review so i had to read what they had to say. This is my second review on okayplayer so i was so pumped!! Alot of people cant even say that they have been on the site. Any way man…the review in my eyes was exactly right– the record was too short and i had to many guest verses…for a solo joint i shoulda put more of “me” on the record. She called it a heat check and it was very much that– ive been with so blessed with opportunities to produce for amazing emcees, and want to continue to challenge myself to be a better artist. Rapping is something that i do because i dont wanna bottle my feelings– its a fun way to connect with the listener to be more blatant rather than speaking through the beat.
Obviously producing is my ace although i dont feel like i have in no way mastered it– i have created my own style and can get the sounds i hear in my head out and into the mpc and into your ears. Writing is a challenge…my girlfriend is a columnistfor our city paper so watching and hearing about her creative process helps me relax and start my verses. I have been feeling so lost about what to do artistically. I work better when i focus and organize my energy. Do i focus on beats for Outasight, work on an very unorganized RTL project, hit and miss with my homie Izmore or do i do a mixtape. For the past couple of nights my poor jane has been having to listen to me like a broken record debate about what imma do– Ive been writing so many bars and been making some heater beats so………im going all in– not holding back– Battery Effect 2 (The Anti-Hero Corp.) starting……NOW
Big shouts and a super thanxs to Heather Faison for the honest and uplifting review! read her review HERE
